Tradition With a Twist

If you translate the words “traditional style” to stuffy and stodgy, it’s time to update your vocabulary. Many of today’s finest fabrics and wallcoverings offer a fresh take on classic patterns and colorways. Take Thibaut’s new Residence collection, for example.

While Thibaut’s new offering definitely captures the flourish and embellishments of the European Renaissance centuries back, the scale and sophisticated color pairings make them particularly current and intriguing. One of our favorites: The Baron pattern. The large botanical adorned with birds (a hot trend today, by the way) is one of the most beautiful. If you choose this pattern, be forewarned: You need to provide a large enough wall or piece of furniture to truly showcase the active, oversized pattern.
