Coloring Your Bath with Cool Tones
Chill out
Longing for a spa-style bathroom? “Paint the walls a light, cool color,” advises designer Niki Strebel of Lisman Studio in Salt Lake City. What’s more, she says, cool, calming colors make windowless and small baths look and feel lighter and larger. And if water-hued colors tend to leave you cold, Strebel suggests adding warm wood finishes, a plush floor rug and warm-toned tile or stone to heat things up.
1 › Paired with dark wood floors, the deep purple walls and ceiling of this St. George bath provide a bold backdrop for the room’s shapely tub and clean-lined shower enclosure.

2 › The subtle color of Porter Paints’ Ripe Riesling gives this Salt Lake City master bath a spacious, spa-like vibe. Design by Niki Strebel and LaMar Lisman, Lisman Studio, SLC.

3 › A Provo bathroom’s crisp white molding, ceiling and tub accentuate the saturated blue-gray walls. Stone tiles provide a play of pattern.
