A Fresh Start
by Brad Mee

Around the corner from Trolley Square in SLC, Architect Warren Lloyd and his talented team gave an old building a new look and purpose. Today, Lloyd’s architectural practice thrives in the renovated structure, one that embodies the firm’s green-mindedness while retaining a historic presence in the neighborhood. “Some of the most interesting architecture already exists within our city,” says Lloyd. “Why tear it down?”

We recently photographed the renovated project and featured it in the pages of our new issue. Here are some of the behind-the-scenes shots.

Under an east-facing gable, Lloyd works in bright light flowing through three new wood-framed windows that replicate the originals.
