I can safely say after photographing a brand-new colorful mountain home in the Park City gated recreational community of Promontory that it is true: color is back. In the opening shot you can see a paired sofa and console cabinet with similar curves in a brilliant color contrast. Kristin Rocke custom designed the pomegranate-hued cabinet and headed the interior design efforts (K Rocke Design). Architectural design is by Inouye Design (Aaron Inouye), development by Keller Luxury Homes and build by Greg Young Construction.

Here is a detail showing the juxtaposition of the curves and color.

From here, I’ll take you into the pantry. Often an overlooked space, this one could be someone’s secret hang.

The floral fabric of the blind against the patterned wallcoverings is a bold move that feels quite harmonious in the space.

The Panda marble puts on a graphic display in natural stone. The glassware and ceramics pick up the tones of the stone and the plants add that living spark.

The main floor powder room swirls with motion, color, and luster with the selections of tile, wallcoverings, and countertops.

The soaking tub in the secondary suit is set in an alcove with bunnies that somehow got colored instead of the eggs. And yes, if you squinted to make certain, the chandelier is composed of glass grape clusters.

The kids’ cobalt blue bunks easily handle six for a sleep-over. The ceiling adds a vibrance, as do the accent pillows. I was struck that the room would please children spanning a range of ages.

This is a home that I plan to show again in the coming weeks. I made a lot of photos, and there are many interesting design approaches in a very livable home. Stay tuned.

But in the meantime, if you are a color enthusiast, know that color and patterns are back!
