In Heber, just outside of Park City, interior designer Gregg Hodson joined forces with home designer Kevin Price and builder Jonathan Adams of JD Construction + Development to bring a fresh perspective—and a dose of Mad Men-era polish—to a new mountain home. The goal? Shake off the expected and embrace a mountain-modern style, using custom details, crisp modern lines, and a curated mix of midcentury furnishings. While rustic charm is often the default in this part of Utah, this project carves a more refined path—where vintage-inspired elegance meets the serenity of the high country. Here, we share additional images not featured in the original story, “Modern Focus,” revealing more of the home’s thoughtfully executed design and stunning mountain setting.

Tucked into Heber’s Red Ledges community, this 4,500-square-foot Club Cabin blends modern design with its rugged alpine setting. Known for its rolling greenery, scenic golf course, and sweeping Wasatch views, Red Ledges offers a serene backdrop the design team embraced—customizing the interiors to reflect both contemporary style and mountain character.

The home’s entry sets the tone, blending clean, modern design with the raw beauty of its mountain setting. Designer Gregg Hodson led the effort to steer the aesthetic away from traditional rustic and toward a more refined, contemporary look.

Originally designed with a typical 22-foot vaulted ceiling, the great room was reimagined at Hodson’s direction. The ceiling was lowered and leveled to 10 feet, making room above for a bunkroom and playroom. A monolithic charcoal Neolith fireplace anchors the space, flanked by custom built-ins with floating white oak shelves that reveal textured wallcovering behind. Knoll armchairs gather around a Saarinen table topped with dark stone.

Hodson reimagined the home’s back elevation, adding a hot tub to the main deck and designing a raised ledge behind it for both privacy and visual interest. An integrated fire pit sits beside the tub, creating a cozy outdoor retreat that’s as functional as it is striking.

White oak cabinets from Riverwoods Mill, with sleek horizontal graining, define the kitchen’s contemporary character. Quartz countertops extend seamlessly up the range wall, creating a polished, cohesive backdrop. Overhead, a beamed white oak ceiling tray adds warmth, while a steel range hood echoes the dark tones of the nearby fireplace. Eames bar stools with cushioned seats bring a stylish modern touch.

“Storm Rider,” a photograph by Kevin Kehoe, is one of many framed works that infuse the home’s mountain-modern interior with personality and depth.

Hodson turned a main hallway into a gallery-style passage, where curated art lines the walls beneath a ceiling surprisingly dressed in dark wallpaper.

Wood paneling enhances the sloped ceiling in the primary bedroom, adding warmth and texture while framing expansive mountain views. Modern lamps by Herman Miller bring a sleek, understated touch to the serene retreat.

A floating double vanity, crafted in horizontally grained white oak, anchors the primary bathroom. The wood’s natural warmth continues the home’s material palette. “The consistency is rhythmic—you can feel it,” says Hodson.

Midcentury modern influences carry into the office, where a built-in desk pairs with a minimalist table and chairs—balancing functionality with timeless form.

Oversized windows flood the second-story media room with natural light and views. A shiplap-wrapped nook with a cushioned window seat, upholstered in a playful Paul Smith for Maharam fabric, adds charm and comfort to the space.
