Spice up your holiday snacks and foodie gifts with Roasted Rosemary Nuts.

Holiday dining isn’t just about grand, gather-around-the-table meals. Special snacks like spiced roasted nuts can also become part of your culinary traditions. This simple recipe is a new holiday favorite in our household. Rosemary provides a fresh, woodsy taste, cayenne adds kick and a small amount of brown sugar balances the salt and herbs nicely. I especially like these spiced nuts because they’re casual enough to set out in a bowl for grazing, but fancy enough to become a festive gift, wrapped in colored cellophane with a bright holiday bow. What’s more, they’re fast and easy to prepare. And during a season that seems short on time, that’s a big win.

3 cups of raw, unsalted mixed nuts

1 tablespoon of melted butter

3 tablespoons of coarsely chopped fresh rosemary

1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper

1 tablespoon of dark brown sugar

1/2 tablespoon of salt

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Toss the nuts with the melted butter and spread them on a baking sheet. Roast the nuts for 10-12 minutes, stirring every few minutes. While the nuts roast, mix the remaining ingredients in a bowl. Toss them with the nuts while they are still hot. Store the finished recipe in an airtight container. If you like, warm the roasted rosemary nuts a few seconds in the microwave before serving, or simply put them out room temperature.
