Where some see dust-covered relics, she saw standout pieces placed in a well-composed room.

Growing up in New England, Jana Robertson, founder of Roberts & Lamb, scoured estate sales for vintage furniture. While some saw dust-covered relics, she saw standout pieces placed in a well-composed room. That instinct to layer old and new lives on in Roberts & Lamb.
For nearly a decade, the firm’s intake questionnaire has asked clients if they’re open to vintage. “Listening breeds trust,” notes Robertson. If a client says yes, Robertson weaves custom-made elements with finds from her favorite local vendors: a statement piece or a quiet gem in the background.

Robertson looks for antiques with character. “A distinctive silhouette keeps vintage from looking like a catalog,” she says. Equally important, Robertson encourages clients to bring her pieces with
sentimental meaning.
“Vintage turns up the soul of a room.” – Jana Robertson
For Robertson, that’s the point. A vintage piece carries a deeper story, makes a room one-of-a kind, and lasts a lifetime, not a trend cycle. And clients come home to collected, personal spaces.
Robertson’s favorite sources for vintage pieces include: The Green Ant, Hands of Industry, The Post, Shop Nouve, Strawberry Mansion, and Urban Vintage.
