New year, new me—or so they say. While I’ve never been big on New Year’s resolutions myself—I find it difficult to stick to goals after I’ve procrastinated them into a different timeline—I cannot deny the allure that this time of year brings. And despite the cliche, a new season (yes, especially when coinciding with the new year) is the perfect time to explore and embrace new design horizons.

To help inspire you and your 2026 home refreshes, we have compiled forecasts on what’s new and next in the design world from a few of the state’s top pros (page 24). Alongside this peek ahead, our opening pages are full of new products—such as a collection of whimsical woodland pieces (page 22), day-brightening recipes (28) and chic new spaces around the state (26), ready for discovery.
The featured homes all embrace novel design in their own fresh ways. In Park City, a soft palette of plaster and white oak serves as a clean slate for a family to make new memories (page 72). Downtown, two SLC designers make big moves to cleverly transform a small, outdated condo (page 44). Leslie Schofield Studio breathes new life into a tired Draper residence in our before-and-after feature (page 50), while Carrie Delaney reimagines mountain modern style in Victory Ranch (page 90). On Salt Lake City’s East Bench, the firm Roberts & Lamb flexes its innovation muscle to take a lot deemed ‘unbuildable’ to new heights (page 82). And showcased on our cover, Bond Design Company infuses a contemporary take on midcentury design into a cozy family cabin in Alta, using bold color and custom finishes to craft something wholly unexpected (page 62).
We hope that these pages will inspire your 2026 chapter, wherever it takes you.
